Mordecai
Mordecai
Color: DSH Tabby, black stripes & white
Born: August 15, 2024
Gender: Neutered Male (microchipped)
History:
Mordecai, his sister, Katia, and their mom, Cassie, were living rough in a hamlet in southern Alberta. They were brought to our attention in mid December, 2024, when the kittens were five months old. The person who was providing food and shelter was eventually able to capture them all, several days apart. The kittens were shy and had never been handled; however, it's likely their mom, Cassie, had a previous home as her re-socialization has progressed quite quickly. It's generally a more difficult process for a shy adult cat to be socialized than a kitten.
Personality:
Mordecai has come a long way in his socialization. He has discovered how good it feels to be petted, and is learning to allow himself to be picked up. He might be a handful as he matures - not because of his behaviour, which will only get better, but because his foster-mum thinks he will be a big boy; his paws are already large for his size.
Like his sister and mother, Mordecai is mostly about playing. Whether with a family member or one of his new friends, he loves being active. He is a cat who will benefit greatly from having a permanent playmate when he is adopted. There’s too much energy and delight there not to share!
Mordecai is very food-driven, and likes his meal-times as much as play-time. He’s inherited his gentle nature from his mother: like Cassie and Katia, Mordecai doesn’t have an aggressive or mean bone in his body. He was quite accepting of being touched and handled at the veterinary hospital.
