Moxy

Moxy

Color:               DSH Black/brown striped tabby with White

Born:                Approx. September 25, 2019
Gender:           Neutered Male, microchipped

History:

Moxy was living an indoor/outdoor existence as part of a managed group of street cats when his caretaker-rescuer had to relocate out of town. With much regret, the caretaker, who was moving in a seniors' residence, wasn’t able to accommodate Moxy. Because Moxy was so socialized and almost ready for adoption, a place was found in one of PAW’s foster-homes. He was subsequently vet checked, snap-tested (all negative) and fully vaccinated.

Personality:

Is Moxy the friendliest cat you’ll ever meet? We can’t make that claim – but he is pretty darn friendly. Initially shy, this large, tabby boy had to be trapped and kept by himself for a few days. As uncertain of his new humans and new surroundings as he was, Moxy’s loving nature would not be denied. Within a day of arriving in his foster-home, he was rubbing up against his new guardian, purring, kneading and rolling over for chest- and chin-rubs. ‘Amiable’ doesn’t begin to describe Moxy. Even when taken to a veterinary hospital for his check-up, he was co-operative. Scared, he nonetheless put up with the poking and the pushing, and when he returned to his foster-home, acted as if it just a bad dream: the purring started all over again.

Moxy missed the outside, and, for a while, cried at windows. But this behaviour disappeared as he relished the comforts and luxuries of an indoor life. He still peers out windows but doesn’t seem to want to exchange his new life for the outdoors. He has acknowledged the other cats in his household, and would like a feline pal. But he’s a timid fellow and easily intimidated by a strong personality, so a gentle, easy-going adult or a kitten in need of a big brother would be his preferred friend. In his foster-home, he’s taken to snuggling with and grooming a very young kitten; when you hear loud purrs coming from somewhere, you know a kitten is cuddling with Moxy. He’s also a people-cat; a welcoming feline is a bonus, but as long as Mox has human attention and affection, his world is complete. He has a very good appetite, and has no problem with using a litter-box. We haven’t found anything to worry about with this guy.
